Samuel E. Morrison Award

Award for Best Thesis - A certificate of honor and a monetary award is presented annually at the Baccalaureate Ceremony for the best paper written on history, political science, or legal issues.

2012 Recipient: Jessica Doyle (History & Government), Title: "The Buffalo State Hospital for the Insane: A Symbol of Progress That Deserves to Be Preserved"

2011 Recipient: Michael Feldman (History & Government), Title: "Ethnocentrism in the Portrayal of the Late 19th Century's Armenian Massacre"

2010 Recipient: Timothy Rentschler (History & Government/Adolescence Education), Title: "Japanese American Internment and The New York Times: Propaganda, Persuasion, and Manipulation."

2009 Recipient:  Rachel Baird (History & Government/Adolescence Education)

Department Valedictorian

A certificate of honor and a monetary award is presented annually at the Baccalaureate Ceremony to the graduating senior in the department with the highest grade point average.

Ruth Stratton Memorial Scholarship

A one-time $500 award to the most promising sophomore or junior student in the department. Each recipient's name is inscribed on a plaque in the department suite.
