French & Spanish Majors and Minors
Daemen College’s undergraduate degrees in modern language stress fluency and cultural appreciation and familiarity. The course work offered in culture, literature, composition and professionally related language skills provides our graduates with an ability to go beyond self expression to a level of real understanding and communication with hundreds of millions of people who live and work in cultures and situations different from our own.

Additional Information
- The Modern Language curriculum offers two tracks: one for students seeking adolescent education certification in languages other than English, and one for students who want to apply their language and cultural skills professionally. Education Track students follow the NY State curriculum for provisional certifiation 7-12 grades. Professional Track students choose at least one minor in an area related to their professional goals and complete at least one professional internship.
- In addition, the department also offers a variety of applied linguistics courses that will prepare students for graduate work and research.
- The entire campus is served through its language learning courses.
