Mary Wolf

Art Education Director, Assistant Professor of Art Education

In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Mary Wolf completed her Masters of Art Education from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her Ph.D. in Art Education from Penn State University.

Dr. Wolf has taught art at all levels and in a variety of settings including; elementary, middle, and high school, as well as alternative, adult, and higher education settings. Her research interests include creating community in the classroom to improve student development, teacher education, and professional development for arts educators. Dr. Wolf has presented at local, national, and international conferences including New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA), Maryland Art Education Association (MAEA), Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA), Arts Abilities (YAWNY), Curriculum Theory & Practice, International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council Teachers of English, National Art Education Association (NAEA), and American Educational Research Association, (AERA). She has served as a reviewer for the Curriculum & Pedagogy Conference, the American Educational Research Association's Dissertation Award, and the Arts & Learning journal.

Currently Dr. Wolf is conducting research with Buffalo Urban Arts Teachers Academy (BUATA) which was created to provide professional development that will strengthen and enhance the conceptual knowledge & pedagogical skills of art and music educators in the Buffalo Public Schools. Dr. Wolf serves on the board of the Buffalo Arts Studios, as co-chair of the education committee, and as a member of the Burchfield Penney Art Center education committee. Her artwork has focused on combining text and image to tell visual/verbal stories and she is currently investigating the world of digital photography.
