William - Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy - Transfer Student

Why did you choose your present major?

I was previously enrolled in a Physical Therapy Assistant program and wanted to continue my education. I was always interested in the skeletal and muscular systems; therefore, I chose P.T.

Please describe your academic experience at Daemen College.

I find the courses very challenging, but it only teaches me how to improve on my own study skills and how to put more effort into the courses which will help my future.

Please describe the impact Daemen faculty, staff and advisors have had on you.

The faculty, staff and advisors have had different impacts upon me. The faculty and staff have been very informative. They have been available out of class for consults and give good feedback on how to improve and what to improve on. The advisors (transfer and academic) have also been available for contact and return calls and messages promptly. I am very pleased with the faculty at Daemen College.

What do you like best about Daemen College?

I like the small school feeling of Daemen College and the teachers.

What are your plans after graduation?

I want to open my own physical therapy clinic either in New York State with family or to move out of state and eventually open a clinic.

Do you have a favorite campus activity?

TGIF’s (a themed on-campus social gathering on Friday afternoons where students can unwind together)

Why did you choose to transfer to Daemen College?

I chose Daemen College because they have the quickest Doctorate of Physical Therapy program locally, as well as provides an excellent education.

What was your first step in beginning the transfer process once you chose Daemen?

I emailed the DPT department chair and she referred me to Joe Pagano, the Associate Director of Transfer Enrollment,   who I spoke with him over the phone and in person many times.

Was the transfer admissions counselor helpful in your transfer process? If so, please explain how.

Yes, Joe spoke with me often when I had questions and was very informative and helpful in informing me which classes will be transferred and which ones I will need to take to be on track with the program. He was very helpful and welcoming after being accepted to the college.

How far in advance were you working with the transfer admissions counselor prior to starting at Daemen?

14 months.

How did you feel about the amount of credits that transferred to Daemen?

Daemen accepted most of my credits, I was very pleased.

What advice would you give to any students looking to transfer?

Keep in contact with Joe Pagano, he will give you very good input and is very helpful during the transfer process.
