Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP)

Every five years, Daemen College applies to the New York State Education Department for competitive renewal of its Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program.

In July 2014, Daemen’s program was again renewed and fully funded at over $360,000 per year.  Daemen College also contributes funding to the program.

The Arthur O. Eve HEOP program serves 20 new students per year and a total of 61 students annually.

The HEOP has been on the Daemen campus since January 1970, providing critical resources for a supportive educational experience to students who demonstrate promise but are financially and educationally disadvantaged.

The HEOP has a magnifying effect; it has inspired the Vision for Success and Accelerated Academic Achievement programs as well as numerous interventions inaugurated through the College’s U.S. Department of Education Title III grant.

"I think one of the most crucial aspects of the Daemen curriculum is the required internship. I was an accounting intern for both a private health care company and a certified public accounting firm. I was able to apply lessons learned in the classroom to real business situations. When my internships were over, each company offered me a full-time position."
