Executive Director, Office of Academic Grants & Sponsored Program Services and Title III Grant Management Specialist

Danielle Woodman Kehoe was hired in January 2001 as Daemen College's first academic grants coordinator reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Dean of the College.  She now serves as the Executive Director of the Office of Academic Grants & Sponsored Program Services.  Substantial growth in funding from new sources resulted in 2006 written commendation by The Middle States Commission Evaluation Team: “[Daemen] College should be commended for the amount of grant funding it has obtained over the last five years."

The Office of Academic Grants and Sponsored Program Services advances academic initiatives, faculty research, institutional collaborations, and community partnerships by helping faculty, staff, and administrators obtain external sources of funding.  Sponsored awards include private, state, and federal grants and contracts, subcontracts, and industry agreements.

Administrative duties include: identifying funding sources; strategizing with executive leadership and faculty to coordinate communications with sponsors; engaging faculty in developing grant proposals; authoring, co-authoring and editing proposals; developing budgets; recommending and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and sponsor requirements; working with the Director of Institutional Communication to acknowledge grants; and overseeing post-award, non-financial reporting.  Work is highly coordinated with the post-award Grants Administration Manager, housed in Business Affairs.

She also has assisted with administration of awards from the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Defense Army Medical Research & Materiel Command, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), National Science Foundation (NSF), and others.

In FY14, Daemen's sponsored programs portfolio was comprised of 28 active awards totaling over $2.5 million in expenditures.

In October 2011, Danielle was also appointed Grant Management Specialist for Daemen's Title III Strengthening Institutions grant.  In this capacity, she assists with performance reporting to the U.S. Department of Education and with communication with the campus community and external constituents about Title III-funded initiatives.

In 2006, Danielle was among ten sponsored programs professionals nationwide selected to participate in the ten-month Leadership Development Institute offered by the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).  She has presented on pre-award sponsored programs administration for regional and national audiences.

In October of 2007, Danielle was named by The John R. Oishei Foundation as one of 20 leaders ages 25-45 to participate in the inaugural Oishei Leaders Retreat and subsequent activities.

In 2008, Danielle was selected for the Allstate Foundation Minority and Women Emerging Entrepreneurs Mentoring Program through the University at Buffalo School of Management Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.

Danielle earned a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.S. in Executive Leadership and Change from Daemen College.  Danielle is a Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
