Happening all week!

Sunday, November 17th

  • Anime Club presents Princess Mononoke with pre-film discussion. No previous knowledge of Japanese animation required. Film is dubbed in English.

Monday, November 18th

  • Pride Alliance presents Worldwide Pride. Open discussion on gay rights in the U.S. and other countries.

Tuesday, November 19th

  • Study Abroad Fair - Wick Lobby, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
    Want to learn about different opportunities abroad? Come talk to representatives from API, AIFS, CISabroad, GlobaLinks, and Spanish Studies Abroad.

Uganda Clothing Drive Collection - Donate gently used/like-new clothing for 90+ students ages 12-20 in Uganda. Please contact Justine Tutuska, jtutuska[at] for more details or to donate. 

  • Boy/Girl Size L and XL, Men/Women sizes XS, S and M 
  • Girls: blouses, shirts (shoulders covered), long skirts (below the knee); *NO pants or shorts*, brand new packages of underwear (bikini and boy shorts; NO white underwear or briefs
  • Boys: long shorts, pants, tshirts, polos, and button-up shirts (long and short sleeved), brand new packages of underwear (boxer briefs and boxers; NO white underwear) 
  • The students will also be taking donations to buy the 'gift of light' - we will be purchasing Nokero solar battery charged light bulbs for homes in the village as well as the school where we will be teaching and repairing classrooms (We hope to purchase 40 units).  Students will also be selling African and global crafts and jewelry throughout the semester (Welcome Back Weekend Craft Bazaar, African Student Association Fashion Show, Wick tabling) and are also selling gift cards and accepting donations to offset their costs.    
  • Coming to America - RIC 101, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
    Panel discussion led by Dr. Aakriti Tandon, Assistant Professor of Political Science, on culture shock and perceived cultural differences by Daemen students when they initially settled in the United States. Sponsored by the Office of Residence Life and Global Programs Office.

Thursday, November 21st

  • This is My Africa-in 2060 - RIC 101, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
    Open discussion led by the African Student Association on the current state of affairs on the continent of Africa and what it might be like in the year 2060. What can organizations like African Student Association and people do to help Africa get to where it needs to be?

Friday, November 22nd

  • Chinese Culture Club with Career Services and Global Programs present Chinese Night
    Alumni Lounge, 5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
    Admission: $1
    • Learn to write your name in Chinese
    • Learn about kung fu
    • Learn an easy Chinese game
    • Enjoy authentic Chinese food
    • Global Experience Writing Contest winners announced.
  • Multicultural Club presents Rhythm Nation: Line Dancing with MCA
    Come out, let loose, and learn how to line dance with MCA! Instruction and demonstrations will be given. Line dances from different cultures and places will be shown. Bring a friend!
