10-Days of Real Food Pledge

In celebration of March as National Nutrition Month, several Daemen employees are taking the 10-Day Real Food Pledge.  This means that for 10 days, our participants will avoid highly processed/refined foods, opting for items that are more a "product of nature than of industry."  Avoiding the refined oils, sugars, and artificial ingredients found in most processed foods can have a dramatic impact on our health- and we're about to experience that for ourselves!  To keep on track, all participants will receive a list of "The Rules", sample meal plan and shopping list.

Show Me the Funny...

Our Show Me the Funny Wellness Campaign has just ended!  The purpose of this 3 week challenge was to make a daily effort to find and share humor- and our participants certainly did just that!  Congratulations to our winners:

SMART Choices for the Holidays...

Daemen College was declared the winner of this year's SMART Choices for the Holidays Challenge!  Thanks to all of our participants who helped us successfully overcome the competition from D'Youville, Hilbert, Medaille, and Trocaire.  And, well-deserved congratulations to several of our successful participants who took home a great prize for their hard work:

Good Nights, Great Days...

Our Good Nights, Great Days wellness challenge had nearly sixty participants working to snooze their way to wellness!  Congratulations to Charlie Wesley who won a fabulous retreat in beautiful Canandaigua, NY including:

  • $300 gift card to the Inn on the Lake Resort & Conference Center
  • $50 gift card to the New York Wine and Culinary Center

The WaterWorks! Challenge...

The WaterWorks! challenge ended with fabulous results! The goal of this 20-day challenge was simple- to help participants identify their hydration needs and aim for 9-13 servings of hydrating liquids or high-water content fruits & vegetables each day. Our challenge participants were amazing- they logged a whopping total of 10,181 servings during this short challenge!

In addition to their fabulous fruit infusion tumbler, all participants who turned in their completed tracking sheets were entered in our grand prize drawing.  Congratulations to Becca Bley, who won a Riverview Retreat at the Barton Hill Hotel & Spa in the charming Village of Lewiston!

Health & Wellness Resource Library...

We have started a small Health & Wellness resource "library" in the Human Resources office and we need your help!  To increase the size and variety of available resources, please consider donating your new or gently-used books and videos about:

Fitness & Exercise, Stress Relief, Nutrition & Healthy Eating, Cookbooks, Financial Management, Other self-help topics

Items in this collection are available for all employees to borrow, serving a two-fold purpose: to give new life to unused wellness items and and facilitate the sharing of wellness-related resources within the Daemen Community.   To browse, borrow or donate, just stop by Human Resources or contact Kelly Pogore at x7883 or kpogore@daemen.edu.

Weight Watchers @ Work Meetings...

In Daemen, I took ESL classes to improve my English. I worked at Canavan Desk and made a lot of friends over there. I participated in a Business dinner with my professors. I was invited to join a family party by my professors. During the weekends, I often take the school shuttle to the shopping mall. These experiences helped me to ease into the American-style of study, life, and business.
