Leadership at Daemen College
A Strong Team,
A United Front.
Leadership at Daemen draws on a team commitment to ensure that the various dimensions of the college work harmoniously. Our diversity is what unites us.
President Gary A. Olson is at the helm of Daemen College, fostering strong leadership that spreads institutional direction, guidance and standards among both a Board of Trustees and the President’s Cabinet.
The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the College – ultimately responsible for all activities. He is charged with general supervision of everything that concerns the College, and has authority to approve the selection and employment of staff and faculty.
The Daemen Board of Trustees has the ultimate responsibility for the College, and gives the President authority to conduct day-to-day operations. In conjunction with the President and Cabinet, the Board of Trustees approves the direction of the College.
A college with such a rich storehouse of opportunities demands seasoned leadership, innovative vision, and time-tested discipline. Key attributes aimed for within Daemen’s student body – affective awareness, moral and ethical discernment, the ability to deal effectively with change – must trickle down from the school’s executive, professional and educational leadership.
Indeed, intellectual and civic leadership at Daemen College is a valued life skill that’s woven into the fabric of the academic culture here. Daemen takes pride in offering an impressive range of leadership opportunities to our students – from Student Alumni Ambassadors to Peer Mentors, Learning Center Coaches to Admissions Tour Guides. These and other opportunities help students gain practical exposure to program planning, delegation, motivation of personnel, problem-solving, critical thinking, and other characteristics of effective leadership.
We’re in an increasingly global environment today. New media, new technologies and social changes are occurring at warp speed. That’s why it’s more crucial than ever before that Daemen College is guided by outstanding leadership – in those who guide its future, and in those who are its future.
Dale Demyanick, '79, Chair of the Board of Trustees and President Gary Olson.
