Greeting from President Gary A. Olson

President Gary Olson

Welcome to Daemen an affordable, high-quality college where students receive unparalleled personal attention from faculty and staff. Whether you are just visiting our website out of curiosity or planning a visit to our campus, you will discover that Daemen College is unique: while it is one of the cornerstones of higher education in Western New York, we are known well beyond our state borders. Our faculty are gaining national and even international recognition for excellence in teaching and research. At Daemen we are committed to introducing our students to "A World of Opportunity".

Daemen is built on a strong foundation in the liberal arts. It is a student-centered College with a dedicated, highly-qualified faculty that values personalized teaching and intellectual excellence. The College prepares students for 21st century careers by offering rigorous academic programs that develop the liberal-arts based skills necessary for lifelong learning and intellectual growth.

Critical thinking skills, intellectual rigor, and service to the community are hallmarks of a Daemen education. Daemen's nationally recognized service learning programs are guiding students to assume the responsibilities of local and global citizenship. With 28 percent of our entering students coming from minority populations, Daemen is committed to providing a diverse and robust learning environment. Our alumni are found throughout the United States and around the world. They are partners in every aspect of the College's life and mission and are essential to Daemen's continued advancement.

Our campus is also keenly aware of the environmental challenges confronting our global society we are committed to sustainability. We want to lead by example, and the College is proud that two of our buildings have been designated as Gold Certified LEED buildings, signifying that they have been certified by this internationally recognized green building program as among the most environmentally efficient facilities.

We are excited by the future, which is borne out by the fact that total enrollment at Daemen has increased by more than 27 percent since 2005. Over half of our entering class are Presidential Scholarship recipients. We seek to enroll academically ambitious undergraduates who will lead intellectually vigorous and productive lives to succeed, serve their communities, and lead. I feel privileged to be part of Daemen College, and I encourage you to learn more about us by exploring our website or better yet, by visiting the campus. We welcome the opportunity to show you how we can help you expand your horizons.
