Commuting Life

Commuter students are important members of the Daemen College campus community. Being connected to the campus and taking advantage of various opportunities can enhance your college experience. All students have the same access to clubs, student government, events, concerts, and athletics.

Here are some tips on how to get involved:

Events on Campus

Remember to check the Events page to learn about events on campus. You can even hang out in Wick and checking out the message board.

Get involved in Student Life

Student organizations are not just for resident students! Getting involved with student activities organizations is a great way to meet other students and fellow classmates. You too can become a member of Student Government, the Orientation staff or many of the other leadership opportunities available on campus.

Apply for a Campus Job

Working on campus lets you get to know the campus better and met new people. Spending extra time on campus will help you become more acquainted with the college and the people who work here.

Start a Study Session

Your fellow classmates will be with you on campus from beginning to end. Join your peers at the library or campus lounges and study together. This is a great way to get to meet other classmates you have yet to become friends with.

Visit the Residence Halls

Just because you don’t live here doesn’t mean you can’t visit your friends on campus. Daemen’s overnight visitor policy allows visitors to experience residence life, even if it’s just for a brief stay.

Join an intramurals

Don’t drive home the second classes end. Join an intramural team instead! Daemen offers several intramural teams. To find out more about intramurals view our athletics page.

Don't Leave When Classes Ends

We don't mean stay here forever, but don't rush off campus as soon as your class lets out. Staying an extra fifteen minutes in the lounges, cafes, or hallways means an extra fifteen minutes you can use to talk to classmates or friends. Some commuters don't have the time to stay for late night events but staying for just a few moments longer might be the link you need to feel connected.

It is hard to feel like a true part of your college community when you only stay on campus to attend classes. Getting involved in whatever way you can helps you discover the college experience that is truly your own!

In Daemen, I took ESL classes to improve my English. I worked at Canavan Desk and made a lot of friends over there. I participated in a Business dinner with my professors. I was invited to join a family party by my professors. During the weekends, I often take the school shuttle to the shopping mall. These experiences helped me to ease into the American-style of study, life, and business.
