Daemen University is seeking a visionary leader to play a central role in shaping the success of a new College of Health, Human Sciences & Business following organizational restructuring at Daemen from two divisions into three schools. The founding Dean will start on or around June 1, 2023 and collaborate with faculty and staff to establish the new College’s identity and strategic direction. The Dean will oversee nine academic departments that include undergraduate and graduate degrees offered in both face-to-face and online modalities. The College includes the following departments: Behavioral Sciences, Business, Accounting, Paralegal Studies, Health Promotion, Leadership & Innovation, Public Health, and Sociology & Social Work. The new Dean’s term aligns with the launch of a new General Education curriculum designed to ensure a strong foundation in the liberal arts for students across all academic programs. The Dean will report to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and will join a campus community that emphasizes teaching and research excellence, student engagement, and inclusive student success. In alignment with Daemen’s strategic plan, the new Dean will be charged with growing enrollment and new programs, and fostering a culture of philanthropy and grant writing to support faculty scholarship and other strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will understand the changing landscape of higher education and be prepared to innovate and advance initiatives in support of Daemen's emerging national distinction as an institution of academic excellence.
Interview Process
After a first round of zoom interviews are completed, the search committee will review and narrow the applicant pool to 3-4 finalists for on-campus interviews.
On-campus interviews will consist of the following:
- Meeting with the President
- Meeting with the Provost
- Meeting with the search committee
- Meeting with the President’s Cabinet
- Lunch with the department chairs
- Meeting with key representatives from Academic Affairs
- Meeting with Faculty Senate Leadership
- Meeting with key representatives from Institutional Advancement
- Meeting with key representatives from Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
- Meeting with key representatives from Information Technology
- Public presentation with Q&A to follow
After on-campus interviews are complete the committee will convene to review the finalists. The search chair will also conduct reference checks. After all finalists are reviewed by the committee, the committee will submit its recommendations to the Provost. The committee does not make the final selection, but provides the accountable officer, the Provost, with acceptable finalists for consideration. The Provost, in consultation with the President, will appoint the Founding Dean for the College of Health, Human Sciences & Business.
