Human Subjects Research Review
The Human Subjects Research Review
Committee (HSRRC) is responsible for ensuring that all research at Daemen College
involving human subjects is appropriately reviewed in accordance with pertinent
legal and ethical requirements. Faculty and students who receive the committee's
approval for research projects are responsible for conducting the research as
approved, without changes pertaining to the treatment of subjects, and are responsible
for maintaining ethical standards while conducting research.
This web page is established to
provide faculty and students with the necessary information to conduct, report
and seek approval of the research in the most appropriate and efficient manner.
Before submitting proposals, researchers must consult the Daemen
College Research Review policy, including its description of
criteria for Exempt, Expedited and Full Review Proposals.
Upon determining the type of review
the proposal requires, the researcher should print an
Application for Certificate of Exemption or an
Application for Investigation Involving Human Subjects (for expedited or
full review). (The freely
available Adobe Acrobat reader is required to view or print these forms
in PDF format.) Cover pages for each type of proposal include checklists. Researchers and faculty supervisors must initial each part of these checklists once the applicable parts are included. Proposals must be signed and dated by researchers. Student proposals must be signed and dated by faculty supervisors. Fill out the appropriate form and submit it with one
hard copy of the research proposal to
Arlene Lina, P. O. Box F, or deliver to Duns Scotus 102. Expedited and full review research proposals, not including application form checklist, must also be submitted as email attachments to the chairperson, Dr. Cheryl Nosek, cnosek@daemen.edu. with a copy to Arlene Lina, alina@daemen.edu..
(If the proposal contains material which cannot be included in an email attachment,
such as diagrams, photocopies from another source, or copyrighted test forms, please include this material
in the hard copy and make reference to its hard-copy availability in your electronic
document.)
The file name and subject line both must be in the following format:
Last Name First Initial - HSRR - Academic Year

Informed Consent Forms are required for Expedited and Full Review Proposals and must be prepared according to the Consent Form Template
