Accounting/Professional Accountancy BS/MS

Accounting Certificate

The Accounting/Professional Accountancy BS/MS degree is for those students wishing to pursue a career in public accounting. It is a registered degree with the State Education Department and meets the new 150-hour requirements to sit for the CPA exam. The 120-hour BS in Accounting is for students who seek a career in the accounting field but do not wish to pursue the CPA certification.A 30-credit hour certificate is also available that provides students with the specialized skills necessary to obtain a position in the accounting field and is transferable to both the Accounting/Professional Accountancy and the Accounting degree programs.

• Focus on Active Learning. Curriculum integrates active learning activities. For example, tax students prepare income tax returns for low income taxpayers. Paid internships build a student’s résume before graduation and help forge close relationships with the professional community.
• Focus on a Global Environment. Curriculum provides opportunities for the student to develop a global mindset. Study abroad opportunities, both semester long and week long, are available. Courses in a foreign language are encouraged to help make the student a citizen of the world.

Minors in accounting and digital media. Accounting certificate program. Successful completion of the 150 hour curriculum qualifies students to sit for the New York State CPA exam.
