Employment of community health workers is expected to increase by 11 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations.

Through knowledge and experience, students pursuing the community healthy specialization learn about administrative aspects of health care, community outreach and advocacy, health disparity, illness risk factors and trends, and more, to improve health behaviors and outcomes.

Students can choose to focus their specialization in community health administration, education, principles or integrative health and wellness.

Individualized study plans in community health education help prepare students to become a certified health education specialist through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing/NCHEC.
