Welcome

Welcome to Education for Civic Societies and Sustainable Communities (CSSC). This project was begun in 2000 to establish a North American curriculum that will foster a regional civic mindedness among students in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Through CSSC, students probe how local and North American issues intersect to shape a regionally focused civic society and sustainable community.

Graduates who have experienced the program will be able to cross borders, working collaboratively toward solving problems that require an understanding of the issues from a local, state, national, and regional perspective.

Students work in numerous interdisciplinary-based settings, such as environmental organizations; community-building programs, immigration organizations, local, state, or national governments, and resource use and preservation organizations and agencies.

These hands-on experiences are preparing leaders who will shape the dialogue between Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
