Universidad La Salle was founded in Mexico City in 1962. It is one of the oldest private institutions of higher education in Mexico. It's main campus in Mexico City has a student population of 12,000 of which 1400 are graduate students, including on-campus and in-company programs. The university has six branch campuses: Cd. Obreagon, Guadalajara, Morelia, Pachuca, Cuernavaca, and Cancun. In addition, there are Lassalian sister universities in Leon, Gomex Palacio, and Monterrey. The total Lassalian educational presence in Mexico includes almost 60 educational institutions from the preschool through doctoral levels in a variety of social and economic contexts.

The Universidad La Salle Mexico, based on an integral formation model, pays special attention to its students' intellectual and social development. ULSA offers 19 bachelor's degrees in the schools of Architecture and Graphic Design, Engineering, Chemical Sciences, Administration, Education, Philosophy, Religion, Law and Medicine.

With over 20 years of experience in graduate education, Universidad La Salle, Mexico currently offers eight Masters' programs in Management, Quality, Health Organization Management, Human Resources Management, Management of Information Systems, Economic Engineering and Finance, International Business (double degree program with ICN, University of Nancy, France), and Education. The Doctoral Program has 70 students in areas related to Education, Business and Science. The Medical School also offers an intensive selection of internationally recognized specialities.

The Center for International Education, La Salle (CIEL) is the coordinating center for La Salle's international activities: academic exchange, information & support center, Spanish for foreigners, special programs and facilities for international encounters. Through CIEL, La Salle has agreements with universities worldwide and is continuously increasing its relations abroad.

ULSA has exchange programs with institutions in North America, Canada, South American, Europe, and the Philippines. It is a member of the Consortium of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), which has more than 225 affiliate universities around the world. In addition, ULSA has participated in the trilateral RAMP and is a member of the major national and international educational and professional associations.

By Presidential decree, La Salle is autonomous and it has full accreditation from the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education, FIMPES (Mexican Federation of Private Universities) and specific authorization to develop education programs nation-wide.
