The Daemen College - Fruit Belt Partnership
Buffalo's historic Fruit Belt neighborhood, known for its 1.5 story cottages and streets named after fruit trees has experienced a cultural revival in the past ten years. We are proud to be a part of the neighborhood's continued growth and renewal.

2004
Dr. Clausen was invited by Reverend Chapman to be on the Board of Directors for the St. John Baptist
Community Development Corporation (CDC)
2005
Collaboration of Fruit Belt United,Inc. (501.c3), UB Law School, Teen Challenge, Locust Street Art and Daemen CSCCE were awarded a KaBoom playground donated by Home Depot of Buffalo in 2005. Check it out at at 165 Mulberry Street on the East Side.
2005 - Present
National Night Out picnics, community clean-ups and maintaining community gardens.
After school programs at Future’s Academy, Rev. Dr. Bennett W. Smith Family Life Center, and, now,
at Aloma D. Johnson Fruit Belt Community Charter School supported by a grant from the Providence Fund.
United Way Day of Caring Projects.
2006-2007
HomeOwnership and Financial Counseling Workshops with a grant from Fannie Mae. Collaboration with UB
East Side Neighborhood Transformation Partnership to open Future’s Academy at night for community
programs.
2007
Summer course Oral History through Story Telling. Daemen students and City Honors students interviews with
Fruit Belt Residents.
2007-present
SummerLanguage Arts Camp, now Summer Language Arts & Theater Camp at Daemen College. Students from Amherst schools and Aloma D. Johnson Fruit Belt Community Charter School.
2010
Successful weatherization of 50 owner occupied homes in the Fruit Belt
