What is the Thomas Reynolds Center Program?
The Thomas Reynolds Center is a Graduate Assistantship for students enrolled in Daemen’s Masters in Special Education program. Graduate Students are hired as Graduate Assistants and work part time, receiving an hourly wage, at the Thomas Reynolds Center while completing course requirements to receive a Masters in Special Education degree. Graduate Assistants receive hands-on teaching experience in an after-school setting working with students at risk for academic failure and students with learning disabilities in grades K through 5th. Graduate Assistants receive direct instruction from Master Teachers in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, and student empowerment.

When does the after-school program take place?
The after-school program for the 2007-2008 school year is held Mondays through Thursdays (3:00-5:00pm) beginning October 20, 2008 and ending on May 21, 2009. Students from the Amherst Central School District are transported to the Thomas Reynolds Center located on Daemen’s campus to receive tutoring services. Students attending the Aloma D. Johnson Fruit Belt Community Charter School receive tutoring services in their school building.
