"This last study abroad experience of mine was life changing. I was exposed to different views and methods of rehabilitation when compared to the United States which enabled me to expand my clinical knowledge to help shape me into the PT I am today. Not only was able to gain invaluable clinical experience I was also able to travel all around Italy and see many different regions of the country."
"I loved having the opportunity to explore the city and discover historical places with the friends I made. I am glad I had the opportunity to learn inside the classroom and outside in the world too!"
"When I reflect back on my life, going abroad was hand-down the best experience I've ever had. Being exposed to a different part of the world allowed me to gain perspective in a way that reading and pictures could never satiate. Thank you for opening up my heart to all the possibilities the world has to offer".
"My semester abroad changed me into a more mature person and I had multiple opportunities to see myself on a new level of independence; not only did I improve my language skills, but also myself intrapersonally. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of Granada, the new friendships I made, my incredible host mother, and being able to explore something new everyday. Being abroad helped me change into a person I have always wanted to become."
“I loved working with the children in Mae Sai and with the DEPDC organization. I went to Thailand thinking that I would be changing the lives of these children when, in reality, they were the ones that changed my life. I used to believe that traveling around the world was just a fantasy. However, by studying abroad in Thailand, I have fulfilled that life-long dream. There is only one thing I can ask myself now: what dream can I achieve next?”
“I loved being able to see walk in the morning and evening to the sun setting and raise over the mountains. I also liked learning about Thailand’s healthcare system.”
"It was very fun and eye opening to be able to learn about another culture and truly be able to embrace it by living among the locals. I loved being able to learn Spanish in a Spanish speaking country, and being able to practice my speaking while improving my comprehension daily. I was also able to make several new friends from all over the US and Costa Rica! I look at the world much more cohesively now that I have lived abroad, and because of that, I feel a lot more open and understanding to people of different cultures."
"While abroad, I figured out how to navigate multiple public transportation systems including buses, trains, and planes on my own. I look at the world differently now because I realize that all people are connected. I had something in common with almost every person that I met. We all had a passion for one thing or another. I am able to relate to more people and now know the importance of striking up a conversation with a person you don’t normally have the opportunity to talk to. I am eternally grateful to have had this amazing experience. I learned that I am much more independent than I realized."
"One of the best parts about studying abroad is meeting so many new people from all over the world. I was able to make friends and meet new people from Spain, and other countries from all around Europe. I’m very glad that I chose to study abroad because it allowed me to improve my Spanish immensely. Studying abroad changed me because it allowed me to learn how to adapt to major changes, experience things that I never would’ve experienced in the United States, and learn how to appreciate different cultures."
"I became a more independent person. I wasn’t afraid to go out and do different things and even traveled alone while I was abroad. Being alone helps you to learn more about yourself since you are in an unfamiliar area with unfamiliar people; you learn your barriers and how to cope with new experiences. I branched out and didn’t hold back. Studying abroad was the best decision I ever made. It helps you to realize how much is really out there to experience in the world."
“I had an amazing cultural experience while in the Dominican Republic, and I am very grateful that I has this opportunity. My time in the Dominican Republic was an outstanding learning opportunity because I not only learned about the Dominican culture, but came back with an improved awareness and respect for the connections we have with other countries in the world.”
“I’m more confident in myself and the work I’m capable of doing. My highlight was being able to visit nine other countries while being in Europe in just two short months. I got the chance to see how other countries do business and what drives their economy.”
“This experience has made me into the person I am now. I feel more comfortable living independently and traveling on my own. I’ve grown to appreciate local culture and I feel more confident speaking to strangers! The experience and the people I have met have changed me for the better.”
“I felt like Uganda was my home away from home. I completed my internship and had the opportunity to work on a health promotion campaign which offered free health services. I have studied abroad before, but this time it was completely different. I was immersed in the culture of Uganda and gained useful knowledge and skills for my career.”
“Study Abroad allowed me to learn so much about myself. The people you meet makes it a priceless experience. I gained knowledge on traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese culture and beliefs. The best part of my program was the 9-day excursion where we visited different villages and cities.”
“Study Abroad increases your knowledge of a different culture and makes you more well-rounded. One of the most important things I learned was how to adjust to my surroundings. I had never experienced Europe before, and I’m glad I did it. It wasn’t always easy but it was totally worthwhile.”
