Mission of IELP

The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at Daemen College is an academic English for Speakers of Other Languages ( ESOL) program. The major goal of the IELP program is to provide students with the language skills and cultural competency necessary to be successful in a US academic setting. The program serves undergraduate and graduate students who seek intensive English Language for academic, professional, and personal reasons.  The IELP directly fosters Daemen’s mission to prepare students for professional, intellectual and civic leadership whether they live in the United States or abroad.

                The IELP

provides rigorous high quality instruction that emphasizes service in a global community and professional excellence

integrates the core competencies of the Daemen curriculum

supports the college’s strategic initiative to encourage cultural diversity and internationalization of the campus

The IELP is designed according to the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) standards of good practice.

Successful completion of IELP classes is one means by which international students and non-native speakers of English may meet Daemen’s English language proficiency requirement.
