I teach Writing for the Media, Promotional Writing, Introduction to Public Relations, and Writing for the Campus Newspaper – drawing upon my practical work in journalism, marketing communications, and public relations. An exciting and challenging dimension of my work at Daemen involves my role as mentor (faculty advisor) to The INSIGHT, the online student newspaper.
Under the aegis of my freelance writing and editing business, Chimera Communications, I provide copywriting and consulting services to a host of corporations and news media outlets. My articles have appeared in The Buffalo News, Business First, After 50 News, Spree magazine, and Daemen’s alumni magazine, Daemen Today, among others, and I have published Nuts, Bolts & Anecdotes: Journalists Discuss Interviewing and Note-Taking in Their Own Words.
My marketing writing work has involved copywriting for a wide range of local and national accounts, with much of my writing focused around my career-long interest in the life and work of Spanish artist Salvador Dali. As a Dali historian and journalist, I’m a writer/columnist with The Salvador Dali Society, Inc., of Redondo Beach, California (www.dali.com) and author of the blog, Meeting Dali! (www.meetingdali.blogspot.com). I’m the former publicity director of the original Dali Museum of Beachwood, Ohio, which in 1982 permanently relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida.
