Clubs Rally to Save State Funding!

The History & Government Club and the Pre-Law Association organized rallies on campus, on November 17th & 18th, to keep New York State government from cutting TAP and higher education funding for college students.  Governor Paterson’s proposed budget cuts planned to reduce every student’s TAP award by $120, and planned to cut the budget of higher education programs in the near future.  Members of the two clubs, with help from professors in the History & Government Department, set up tables with laptops in the Wick Center to gain support from the Daemen community.  Nearly a hundred students sent emails to their local state representatives and leaders of the New York State legislature to let them know that cutting TAP would negatively affect college students. The effort was a great success and united members of the Daemen community to speak up to our state government and let our voices be heard!
