Why did you choose Daemen College?
Because it is a reputable private school in Western New York, and the class sizes are small.
I have always been interested in law, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to pursue a law degree straight after graduation. When I heard of this program at Daemen I immediately took an interest. After the introductory paralegal courses, I realized this program is for me. After graduation, I am prepared to work at a law firm under the supervision of an attorney. If I do decide to go to law school, I will have the legal foundation as a paralegal major.
How do you like your major?
My paralegal courses consistently challenge me intellectually. My professors are all experienced legal professionals within their specific field. I have learned a lot of practical information that a textbook wouldn’t be able to teach you. The professors are passionate about teaching, and are willing to explain something until you understand the concept. They teach you to act like your classes are your job, and that we are their employees. The professors allowed us to come to their law firm, watch them argue cases before the court, and gave us a tour of the holding center and crime lab. I was able to see the day-to-day activities that go on behind the scenes.
What is your favorite thing about Daemen College?
I like the small community atmosphere, and I absolutely love the library!
Do you live on campus or commute?
How do you like that? I lived on campus for one year, and I enjoyed the college campus lifestyle. I decided to move off campus, and currently I commute to class. The parking situation isn’t as bad for me because I come to Daemen early.
