Daemen's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies does not advocate any particular religious ideas or beliefs, but encourages an appreciation of the rich diversity of religious perspectives.

What Makes It Great

  • In addition to courses that explore Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and other religious traditions, Daemen’s religious studies program offers you the innovative classes that investigate compelling topics such as the Holocaust and health care in today’s technological society.
  • You’ll also find religious studies courses in medical ethics valuable if you’re majoring in areas such as physician assistant studies, nursing, and pre-med.
  • Students are assisted in thinking creatively and critically about human existence, meaning, and the nature of reality with the goal of acquiring an increased capacity for logical analysis, appreciation of values deepened selfknowledge, and an understanding and enjoyment of diverse ideas and systems.

Minors and More

  • Minors in philosophy, philosophy and religious studies, and religion.

Extra Opportunities

  • Volunteer in a community-based service-learning project.
  • Work one-on-one with a faculty member to design a major or conduct a research project based on your particular interests.
  • Attend a weekly Mass or Protestant worship service led by one of Daemen’s two campus ministers.
  • Cooperative Education and International Studies are options available by advisement.

Post-Graduation Possibilities

Students may go on to pursue graduate degrees or attend divinity schools.
