Visual Effects Visiting Professor
Susan Weeks earned her B.A. in Literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. Susan began her career in feature films as a graduate student in the Motion Picture/Television program at UCLA where she won the Dorothy Arzner and Lynn Weston awards for feminist filmmaking. After graduating with her M.F.A. in 1991, she began working on major motion pictures as a Visual Effects Artist at Industrial Light + Magic. In 2003, Weeks moved to London, England where she worked as a Compositor at the leading UK companies Framestore CFC, The Moving Picture Company, Double Negative, and the Jim Henson Company.
In 2010, after completing projects in Australia and Canada, Professor Weeks took a break from production to teach Visual Effects at Miami International University of Art and Design. In addition, she has been employed as a Stereo Compositor for Sony Pictures Imageworks on the films G Force, Alice in Wonderland, The Amazing Spiderman and Oz, the Great and Powerful. Her feature film credits include Jurassic Park: the Lost World, the first two Men in Black films, Galaxy Quest, Star Wars Episodes I and II, Pearl Harbor, Master and Commander, Far Side of the World, three Harry Potter films and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Professor Weeks joined the faculty at Daemen College in the summer of 2013 to both oversee the implementation of its VFX Certificate Training Program and teach VFX courses.
