Admission Requirements

In addition to satisfying the general criteria for graduate admission to Daemen College (link), applicants must:

  1. Male Student OutsidePossess a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.00 or above (on a 4.00 scale). Applicants with GPAs below 3.00 may be admitted on a conditional basis if they submit evidence of the potential to be successful in graduate studies. Additional evidence may include letters of recommendation and a personal interview with graduate program faculty.
  2. Submit a Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Other graduate entrance exams that will be accepted in place of the GRE include: MCAT, LSAT, PCAT, DAT, GMAT or VCAT. The graduate entrance examination may be waived for applicants in current public health programs or with completed degrees in a public health related field with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  3. Submit a personal letter of application stating the candidate's reasons for seeking a Master in Public Health degree, discussion of experience relevant to public health, and leadership strengths.
  4. Submit three letters of recommendation from an employer, professional colleague, or major professor which evaluate the applicant's leadership potential and capacity to complete a Master in Public Health degree. At least two recommendation letters must be from an academic professor or advisor.
  5. Provide official transcript(s) from all accredited colleges or universities attended indicating the award of an undergraduate degree. International applicants with undergraduate and graduate courses taken in a non-English language must have their transcripts evaluated by a credentialed evaluation service such as World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) for an official course-by-course credential evaluation.
  6. Submission of an official TOEFL score by each international applicant who has graduated from a foreign college or university and whose native language is not English. The minimum recommended TOEFL scores are: paper 580, computer 250, and internet 85. The minimum recommended International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score is 6.5.
  7. Interview with the MPH faculty.
  8. 250 hours or more of paid or volunteer public health-related experience is recommended; however, recent graduates from undergraduate programs with demonstrated commitment to pursuing the MPH will be considered.
