Criteria for Program Admission
Applicants for admission must meet the following requirements:
1. For the childhood program: A 30 credit hour content specialization
or the equivalent which would be 5 one credit courses at the university level
in Ontario or 10 half credit courses. One-half university credit is required in Math, English, Social Studies and Science. In addition, one-half credit is required in a foreign language (3 years in high school is also permitted).
2. For the adolescent program: A 30 credit hour content specialization
in a first teaching area and 18 credit hour content specialization in a
second teaching area (30 if biology or foreign language). In addition, one-half credit is required in a foreign language (3 years in high school is also permitted).
3. Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited University
or an equivalent degree from a foreign University.
4. Two letters of recommendation,
preferably academic and/or professional.
5. A one page letter of
intent including a description of your educational objectives and
areas of personal interest.
6. Submission of a resume
summarizing professional activities and completed continuing education
courses.
7. An I -20 (for international students - after acceptance).
8. Some students may be asked to write the LAST (for

9. A grade point average equivalent of 3.0 or higher.
Application Procedure
A. Teacher Education application materials can be obtained
from the Office of Admissions, Daemen College
B. Admissions is on a rolling basis. However, the priority date for the Fall semester is June 1 and November 1 for the Spring semester.
C. To be complete, the application must include the
following:
1. Application for Admission form.
2. Non refundable $25.00(US)
application fee - online application is free.
3. An official copy
of transcripts of all college and university level academic work .
4. A copy of high school transcripts.
5. Two letters
of reference.
6. Written statement
and resume as described in above criteria for admission.

D. The Application for Admission will be reviewed for the completeness
by the Admissions Office. The student will be notified in writing if
the application is incomplete. It is the responsibility of the applicant
to insure that the application is complete by the appropriate deadline.
Registration Process
Registration for new students is done by the Canadian Scholars Office.
We will register you and place you into the appropriate sections depending
on your certification request of Childhood or Adolescent.
