How much is tuition?
For the 2008-09 year, Daemen's Tuition for the Canadian Scholars Program will have a fixed program rate of:
Childhood Education ($19,650 US)
1st Semester - $6,550
2nd Semester - $6,550
3rd Semester - $6,550
4th Semester - $ 0


Adolescence Education ($15,600 US)
1st Semester - $5,200
2nd Semester - $5,200
3rd Semester - $5,200
4th Semester - $ 0

Is tuition in US dollars?
Yes, tuition is quoted and must be paid in US dollars.

Is financial aid available?
The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is available for Canadian students attending Daemen. Applications are available at your local Canadian college or university. OSAP forms will be processed by the Daemen Registrar after you are accepted. http://osap.gov.on.ca

Are there other loans, grants, bursaries, funding?
Canadian students are able to apply for OSAP or a bank loan from a Canadian bank. Please contact our Financial Aid office at (716) 839-8254 for information on funding through the United States.

What courses do I need to take?

Is it usable/transferable in Ontario?
Yes, once you complete all coursework, other NYS requirements, and student teaching, you are able to apply for Certification through the Ontario College of Teachers. Daemen will provide you with a Letter of Good Standing.

Is there overnight accommodation on campus?
No, Daemen has a list of area hotels/motels. Get together with other students to share accommodations and save on cost.Lodging...

Where are you located?
Daemen is located on Main St. in Amherst, New York. Approximately 20 minutes from the Canada/US border, just off the 290 East.
When do classes/semesters begin?
Fall semester begins in September. Spring semester begins in early January. Students in the Childhood Program will also take courses throughout the summer.

Where are the classes held?
All classes are held at the Daemen Campus, Amherst, New York. All field observations and practicums are completed in Ontario.

Is it possible to carpool?
Yes, many students carpool to save on gas and travel, and make arrangements with each other on the first day of classes.

Are there any other requirements that need to be filled?

Program requirements at the time of application are as follows:

• Letter of intent
• Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended, showing proof of a bachelor's degree
• Resume
• 3 references
• Daemen College application/registration form
• Student data information card
• Health form
• $25 nonrefundable application fee, payable to "Daemen College" in US funds
Some students may be asked to write the LAST test (for info go to www.nystce.nesinc.com)
• While not a condition for admission, a Criminal Records Check must be done between acceptance and the start of classes.



What is required for student teaching?
Two placements of 7 1/2 weeks each (total 15 weeks) are required for both the childhood and adolescence education programs. The entire 15 weeks will be completed in Ontario.

How long is the program?
Students complete the coursework in one calendar year. The Childhood Program includes a summer session. This is followed by 15 weeks of student teaching.

Is there a tuition payment plan?
For students who need to budget expenses, a payment plan is available. For more information, contact Student Accounts (716)839-8213.

What is the class schedule like?

What is required by immigration?
All students need a student visa to attend classes in the U.S. Please contact Colleen Hamann at 1-888-518-5580 for more details.

May I attend on a part-time basis?
The program is considered full-time and must be taken as is.

How do I get to the Daemen campus?
From the Peace, Rainbow, & Queenston/Lewiston bridge, take the 190 North to the 290 East, exit Main St. West (1st of 2 Main St. exits). Daemen College is located approximately 2kms down Main St. on the right hand side.
