Non-Psychology courses required of Psychology majors:
1. Completion
of Core requirements (45 credit hours.)
2.
Successful completion of one
foreign language through the intermediate level OR intermediate status based on
a foreign language placement test score. Students who place out of the foreign
language requirement on the basis of a placement test must replace the 12
required foreign language credits with free elective courses. If the language
requirement is completed in fewer than 12 credit hours, the remaining credit
hours may be used for any psychology or non-psychology courses.
3. One 3-credit
mathematics course.
4. One 3-credit
natural sciences course.
5. One additional 3-credit course in
mathematics, natural science, or computer science (including management
information systems.)

Admission
to Upper Division:
Students are eligible for upper division after completing 60
credit hours with a C average (2.0) overall, a C average (2.0) in psychology
courses, and a C- or better in PSY 211. To remain in upper division, students
must maintain a C (2.0) average overall, and a C (2.0) average in psychology
courses. Upper division status is necessary to take PSY 353, 353L, 354, 354L,
335 and 444.
Graduation
Requirement:
A cumulative average of 2.0 overall and 2.0 in psychology
courses is required to complete a degree in Psychology.
The following courses can be repeated only once: PSY 103,
PSY 211, PSY 353, PSY 335, PSY 354, and PSY 444.
Minors:
Students in other majors may complete a minor in Psychology
of 18 or more hours. Students who wish to pursue this option should plan a
sequence of courses with a Psychology faculty member. Courses in statistics and
research methods are recommended for students from other majors considering
graduate work in Psychology.
Psychology majors may earn minors in many other disciplines.
Psychology majors who are interested in minors should consult their advisors
and the department chairs in the department offering the minor.
