Social Work BA

What Makes It Great
Daemen’s social work major will give you a professional grounding of knowledge in social work, diversity, social and economic justice, human behavior, research and public policy, preparing you to work in a variety of fields that help shape and serve our national and international communities.

Key Feature
• Small classes sizes (15:1 student/teacher ratio) help facilitate enhanced interaction with faculty members dedicated to teaching excellence and providing personal attention to each student. Advantages to the BA in Social Work
• The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education which means graduates may earn a master’s degree in social work at a graduate school in one year.

Extra Opportunities
• Participate in a clinical internship in your senior year, interning two days a week under professional supervision.
• Join the Social Work Alliance, a student club that combines socialization and community advocacy that can assist the residents of WNY.
• Among the innovative service offerings available for student participation is Daemen’s Seneca Babcock Community initiative in South Buffalo and Buddy to Buddy Mentoring initiative at School 45, the International School and the International House at Grover Cleveland High School.

Career Options and Internship Opportunities
BSW graduates are employed in many different public and private work settings. You can work as a counselor, therapist, probation/parole officer, service coordinator, school social worker, to name a few positions.
