Admission to Upper Division:

The student who applies for formal admission to upper division level courses must have completed a minimum of forty-five semester hours including the full foundation program in Art, achieved an overall quality point average of 2.0 or better, and a quality point average of 2.0 or better for Art courses. When the student has met these requirements, usually in the second semester of the sophomore year, a letter requesting admission to upper division is submitted to the Chairperson. Additionally, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree applicant will be requested to submit a portfolio of work. Transfer students at or above the sophomore level will be expected to fulfill the same admission requirements after one semester of work has been completed in the department.

Graduation Requirements:

In order to complete the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, students must earn a grade of no lower than “C” in each of the upper division courses of their major sequence and ART 490. As a service to the student and to the college community, these works will be on display in college offices. After one year, the student should request this work and make arrangements with the Chairperson of the Art Department for its return. After two years, the work will be disposed of at the discretion of the Chairperson. Student work submitted as a partial fulfillment of particular course requirements will be returned to the student.
