The education program at Daemen is known for the wealth of experience it gives its undergraduate students. During Christie Oehman’s first semester on campus, she was given the opportunity to begin working with students. Now, approaching graduation, she is ready to fulfill her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher.
Would you recommend the program to others?
I would highly recommend the Daemen Education program. I feel I am prepared to go into the educational field with confidence.
What do you like best about the program?
I love that I was in the classroom my very first semester and was given many opportunities to work with students.
Why did you choose Daemen?
I chose Daemen because of the small class sizes and the friendly atmosphere.
What are your personal and professional goals?
My future goals are to become an elementary teacher who inspires and encourages my students to become the best they can be.
Do you have any advice for prospective students entering your program?
Never be afraid to ask questions when you do not understand. Our education professors are always available to help and guide you in the right direction.
Have you had any hands-on experiences during your time at Daemen?
I have had many practicum experiences at schools across the Western New York area. I am going to be student teaching during the upcoming Spring semester.
Are you involved in any activities at Daemen?
I am a Trustee Scholar. I have met a lot of nice people through that and enjoyed helping out at different functions throughout the school year.
What was your favorite experience at Daemen?
My favorite experience at Daemen was taking a service learning class where I was able to work with students at Buffalo Public School 40.
