Daemen College : Admissions : Meet our Students : Jacqueline - Physical Therapy
Jacqueline - Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy Transfer Student
Why did you choose your present major?
I was always interested in perusing a career in a dimension of health professions. I decided that the Physical Therapy program was the best fit for me upon meeting with my transfer advisor at Daemen, Joe Pagano.
Please describe your academic experience at Daemen College.
As an incoming transfer student, the atmosphere at Daemen proved to have a much more closely knit community, particularly in terms of the one-on-one teacher-student interactions that are not present at many other institutions. The guidance the faculty members’ offer on an individual basis has made my initial experiences at Daemen positive ones.
What do you like best about Daemen College?
I like the fact that at Daemen, we as students are not simply considered “numbers,” and that professors and faculty are willing to go above and beyond in order to help students to succeed in their academic endeavors.
What are your plans after graduation?
Ideally, I would like to eventually open a physical therapy practice of my own.
Why did you choose to transfer to Daemen College?
I heard many positive things about their Physical Therapy program from family, as both my sister and mother attended Daemen College. Numerous teachers and friends have also recommended Daemen.
What was your first step in beginning the transfer process once you chose Daemen?
Upon meeting with Joe Pagano at our initial transfer meeting, I began the application process for Daemen. I also initiated registration at my current institution to complete course work needed for the Physical Therapy program requirements through the college I attended at the time.
How far in advance were you working with the transfer admissions counselor prior to starting at Daemen?
I began working with my transfer counselor a semester before transferring while enrolled at a local university. I registered for courses that would transfer into my program, thus allowing me to work toward my anticipated degree program at Daemen.
How did you feel about the amount of credits that transferred to Daemen?
I was pleasantly relieved to see that the vast majority of coursework transferred in and satisfied most identical requirements at Daemen. I lost very few credit hours in the transferring process.
What advice would you give to any students looking to transfer?
I would advise them to meet with the transfer advisor as early as possible to ensure a smooth transition into the Daemen curriculum.
