Katelyn - Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy

Katelyn is entering her 5th year in the Physical Therapy program at Daemen. So far she describes her experience as both challenging and extremely rewarding. Katelyn appreciates the relationships she has with her knowledgeable and approachable professors.

Why did you choose you Daemen?

I chose Daemen for their Physical Therapy program, the small class sizes, and close-knit campus. I also loved that I could complete both my undergraduate and graduate studies all at one school.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose Physical Therapy because I always wanted to be a part of the medical field. I looked into many different areas in the field and when I found PT, I fell in love with it. I knew Daemen had a great reputation for PT.

Describe your academic experience at Daemen.

My last four years at Daemen were great. I learned so much that will not only help to succeed in my career, but also in life. I knew that if I ever needed help with any of my work, my professors were there to help me work through it to get the grades I needed. They are more than willing to help their students and want to see them succeed.

Are you a resident or commuter? How has your experience been?

I am currently a commuter; however I lived on campus for my first two years of school and loved it. The dorms are located right in the middle of campus so I was close to everything. I loved the fact that I would have my own bathroom, rather than sharing one with an entire floor. The lounges on each floor are great places to hang out with people. By living on campus I feel that I made so many great friendships that I know will last through the years.

What are your plans after graduation?

I hope to eventually be a physical therapist specializing in the treatment of dancers. I have been a dancer ever since I was three years old, and I couldn’t imagine that major part of my life just ending one day. So what could be better than having my dream job combined with my favorite activity? I have also seen many of my fellow dancers injure themselves and want nothing more than to be back on stage, and I would love nothing more than to be a part of their recovery.

Where is your favorite campus hangout?

I love taking walks through the nature eco trail. It’s a perfect place to wind down after a long week or to go exploring.
