Laura Antoine has struck a neat balance during her time at Daemen. In addition to having a demanding major Laura is the President of the Student Association, a member of the Daemen College Step Team, and an Admissions Tour Guide. She knows that to succeed in the classroom and out, time management is everything.
Why did you choose Daemen?
Daemen fit my criteria for everything I wanted in a school. I wanted something small and they offered a variety of health-related programs.
Why did you choose Health Care Studies as a major?
I love medicine but there are different approaches to it. I like making sure everything runs smoothly and I like to be the eyes and ears in the background rather than being in the spotlight. Health Care Studies lets me achieve that.
What do you like best about the Health Care Studies program?
I love the variety of classes I get to take and the internship program I participate in while I am a senior.
Do you have any advice for prospective students?
Don’t take your major for granted. It is hard work but is very rewarding. Use the Learning Center for any class you are having trouble in. Also, keep in touch with your advisor. They help keep track of your classes, how you’re doing in them, and your future here at Daemen.
What impact have the faculty, staff, and advisors at Daemen had on you?
They are very down to earth and all about helping the students succeed
Do you live on campus?
Yes, it has been an amazing experience. I love my friends who live on and off campus and there’s never a dull day.
Have you had any study abroad experience?
I have studied abroad in Beijing, China. I would recommend study abroad. You get first hand experience on how another culture lives their everyday lives. I gained more knowledge and a respect for their culture.
What do you like best about Daemen?
It is the second place where I call home.
What are your plans after graduation?
Working first and later going back to get my Masters in Health Care Administration.
What has been your favorite experience at Daemen?
Midnight Madness the Step Team performs every year and everyone in the crowd gets really excited to see us.
Favorite campus activities:
Being part of the Step Team, Student Association, giving tours and working with the Admissions staff.
