Some students are anxious that their school workload won’t leave them any time to participate in campus organizations, but Lindsey Burton, a sophomore Physical Therapy major, says that she managed to work around the issue:

”In my freshmen year I joined Student Alumni Ambassadors, which is a group that works at events with current students and alumni in an attempt to bridge the gap between them. I also joined the Daemen Dance Ensemble. We practice one to two times a week and have a couple of performances. I also played on in an indoor soccer intramural team where we played pick-up games once a week in the spring semester.

This year, on top of all that, I became a peer mentor to the freshmen students. It was difficult juggling all of these different activities on top of my schoolwork but I found a way to manage my time efficiently in order to participate in all of these things and maintain a high GPA.

It’s important to account for the time that your classes will take up as well as how much time you are committing to your various organizations. If you keep yourself organized and don’t overbook yourself it’s not difficult to participate in one or more extracurricular activities on campus.”

I’ve never wanted to do anything else. At Daemen’s Open House, I fell in love with the Education program. I liked the idea of getting into classrooms early.
