Peter - Accounting

Peter Loney

What do you think about Daemen's internship programs?

"I think one of the most crucial aspects of the Daemen curriculum is the required internship...  I was an accounting intern for both a private health care company, Willcare, and a certified public accounting firm, Freed Maxick & Battaglia. I was able to apply lessons learned in the classroom to real business situations for both companies. At the completion of my internships, each company offered me a full-time position."

Did you find the internship experience to be valuable?

Well, aside from the fact that I was able to to gain work experience with both public and private companies, these internships allowed me to get a real feel for the daily routine of an accountant. And it was certainly a bonus to receive, as a vote of confidence, job offers from each company. I have accepted the position with Freed Maxick and Battaglia and start in January.

What do you think about the faculty, staff and advisors at Daemen?

I feel that one of Daemen's strongest qualities is its caring and devoted professors. I found that the professors at Daemen had  valuable and unique real world experiences that encouraged me to pursue my degree in accounting. Smaller class sizes allow students to connect with other students and professors on a more personal level.

Did you participate in extracurricular activities on campus?

Absolutely. Daemen's clubs and extracurricular activities also provided me with more ways to connect with the campus. While at Daemen, I was fortunate to be captain on the basketball team, as well as president of both the Accounting and Business Clubs. The clubs offered at Daemen also provide students with a chance to further explore their career interests outside the classroom.

Why should students select Daemen College?

Throughout my experience at Daemen, I have found many opportunities to grow, both academically and on a personal level. I feel Daemen is a great learning environment. I would recommend that any student interested in accounting to apply to Daemen College.
