Why did you choose Daemen College?

I chose Daemen because of the close-knit atmosphere and the research aspect that all psychology majors must complete. As I was touring various schools, I found that everyone I encountered at Daemen was friendly and were excited to answer all my questions.

Why did you choose your present major?

I always knew that I wanted to help others and psychology was a subject that peaked my interest. I enjoy both the number of electives that I can choose from and the freedom to choose classes that I believe will help me in the future.

Please describe your academic experience at Daemen.

I would only change one thing; I'd get more involved on campus sooner. After one semester of commuting, I decided to live on campus and I stayed for three and a half years because it was such a great experience. After meeting my academic advisor my freshman year, I felt confident and excited about my education. My advisor has helped me tremendously and has guided me throughout my journey. The most beneficial part of my academics has been the research sequence. I've learned research methods, planning and implementation, and analysis.

What clubs or organizations have you been a part of at Daemen? What kinds of things do they do?

I'm part of the Psychology Club as both a member and as president. The club is a student run club that hosts a variety of educational and informative events regarding psychology.  We've hosted Graduate School Q & A and Pizza with the Professor. I also served as an orientation leader where I was able to help welcome the freshman class and transfer students to Daemen.  The experience has helped me form lasting friendships with so many people. I also served as a psychology peer mentor where I helped new and transfer psychology students become adjusted to the college and to their major. Finally, I was a member of Best Buddies-- a club that pairs students with developmental and physical disabilities.

What is your favorite campus hangout? Why?

I spend a majority of my time in the library. If not there, I'm in my on-campus apartment hanging out with all of my friends.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I am going to work on my  Master’s in Social Work in hopes to become a school social worker.
