This is an exciting time to be a student in Daemen College’s Accounting Program! Students in our program have tremendous opportunities to serve as accountants at any level of an organization and in any industry, and I am very proud of the education we offer. Our students are engaged in the business community in a variety of ways through internships, consulting projects and service learning to help apply learning to real world experiences at multiple stages of your college career. Your connection to the business community begins long before you graduate! This helps you prepare for a successful career so that once you’re ready to graduate, you will have a broad range of interesting business experiences to discuss with potential employers.

The Accounting Programs: Daemen offers students a curriculum that prepares you for the challenges of an ever-changing business environment.  The combination of individual attention and experiential learning create a solid foundation in which you can thrive. Our five-year average student retention rate in this challenging program is 91.7%, which means that students who join us, find that our program is a good fit and stay with us.

We have both an undergraduate program (120 credit hours) and a graduate program (150 credit hours) that prepares you to sit for the CPA examination. While of our accounting students find a variety of wonderful career opportunities upon graduation, those that pursue the CPA license tend to find more opportunities and generally earn higher salaries. Whether you are preparing for your first professional position or to advance your career, our accounting programs offer the depth needed to be successful.

Internships, Consulting, Service Learning: To help you complete a challenging and rewarding internship, Daemen helps all undergraduate accounting students find, prepare for and complete a challenging internship in either public accounting, industry or not-for-profit entities. We also encourage you to participate in a consulting project in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, to provide you with a management perspective on significant business challenges. Because of the many leadership roles that accountants typically have in the community, they are often asked to provide service to the communities in which they live. To prepare you for this important role, we ask each accounting student to engage in service learning, in which you serve a specific need in the community and learn to apply your skills at the same time.

Faculty Experience and Commitment: Daemen faculty have varied backgrounds with a combination of academic perspective and industry experience. All accounting faculty are CPAs with advanced degrees who have served at various points in their careers as practitioners. This means that you learn both theory and practice, and we can provide first-hand insight and preparation for what it takes to be successful in the field of accounting. Our faculty are easily accessible and willing to assist you with any challenges.

We ask you to get excited, meet challenges head-on, and move into a career where opportunities are limitless!
