Daemen College has awarded its 2011Trustee Scholarships to eight freshman students, who will begin their college careers in the fall, 2011 semester. The Trustee Scholarships are Daemen's most prestigious academic scholarship awards and will continue for all of each student's undergraduate years at Daemen.
The College also presented three Scholar Recognition Awards, and seven Transfer Trustee Scholarships.
More than 200 high-achieving students from New York State, Ohio, Massachusetts, California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and other states across the country competed for the scholarships.
The Trustee Scholarship is awarded to students who combine the following qualities:
Academic achievement
Vision for self and society
Enthusiasm, inspiration
Academic and personal discipline
Leadership ability
Daemen College Trustee Scholars have diverse backgrounds, educational goals, and perspectives. While those selected for this award are nominated on the basis of academic achievement, non-academic factors are also important in the deliberations of the Selection Committee. Considerations of both intellect and character are given in our attempt to award individuals who will make a difference not just in their careers and community, but in the community of Daemen College as well.
