Daemen College, Erie County Veterans Service Agency Sign Agreement
In an effort to assist all veterans of U.S. military service in obtaining an education – with a focus on those returning from active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan – Daemen College and the Erie County Veterans Service Agency have signed an agreement,
connecting the Erie County Veterans Office with Daemen. The agreement designates Daemen College as a military friendly campus, assisting veterans in applying benefits received through the G.I. Bill.
Daemen College President Dr. Martin J. Anisman and Erie County Veterans Service Agency Director Dr. Patrick W. Welch will be present at the official signing ceremony taking place at the Daemen College Library on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
“Daemen College is very pleased to work in partnership with the Erie County Veterans Service Agency,” said Daemen President Dr. Martin J. Anisman. “We will have a link on the Agency’s web site, and will work closely with them to assist our veterans in obtaining an education, to better enable each person to build an active, successful life following their service to our country.”
Patrick W. Welch, PhD., Director of the Erie County Veterans Service Agency, said, "With this agreement, Daemen College has shown its commitment to our veterans by securing a tuition-free education for those who most deserve it. Our veteran community stands to benefit greatly from this terrific opportunity. We are proud to enter into this partnership with Daemen”. The Director is also pleased to learn of Daemen College’s enrollment into the VA’s Post 9/11 GI Bill Yellow Ribbon Program by committing up to $20,250.00 per school year in matching contribution for veterans whose tuition exceeds the GI Bill’s maximum commitment.
