Daemen College Names Susan M. Marchione Service Learning Coordinator
Daemen College has named Susan M. Marchione Service Learning Coordinator. Prior to joining Daemen’s administration, Marchione served as Executive Director, ECC Foundation, Inc., at Erie Community College.
Marchione is presently a Candidate for a Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership from D’Youville College. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Administration and a Bachelor of Arts, in Communication Studies and Political Science. Both degrees are from Canisius College.
In her new position, Marchione will be responsible for managing and directing the Daemen College Service Learning Program. Most recently, the Program was recognized by The Corporation for National and Community Service to the President’s 2007 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth. Launched in 2006, the Community Service Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement.
Marchione brings extensive professional experience to Daemen, including Assistant to the President, Erie Community College; Manager of Special Projects, State University of New York at Buffalo Center for Applied Technologies in Education; and Director of Marketing, Millard Fillmore College, also State University of New York at Buffalo.
Marchione has an extensive record of community and professional service; she is currently a member of the WNED-TV Think Bright Lifelong Learning Advisory Council, as well as the American Council on Education, Network of Women Leaders in Higher Education. Prior to this, her community service included serving as Chair, Canisius College Class of 1985 ~ 20-year Reunion (2005); Canisius College Alumni Association Board of Directors and Fall Open House Ambassador/Guide (2000-03); Canisius College Martin Luther King Awards Selection Committee (1999); State University of New York Council for University Advancement and Development (SUNY CUAD, 1992-1997); and Western New York Chapter, National School Public Relations Association – Vice President (1991-92), Secretary (1990-91).
Marchione received the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service, in 2005; Erie Community College Employee of the Month, December, 1995; and the New York State School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) Publication Awards: Award of Honor for Community newsletter (1990, 1991), Award of Merit for Budget Newsletter (1990, 1991), School Calendar Brochure, and School Board of Education brochure (1991).
Marchione is a resident of North Buffalo.
