For the fourth year in a row, Daemen College won the “Good Going WNY” project competition, held during Earth Week, April 17-23. “Good Going WNY” is an effort to reduce traffic congestion and pollution; Daemen’s participation was coordinated by the Daemen College Center for Sustainable Communities & Civic Engagement. This annual event focuses on smarter travel options - including carpooling, taking the bus/rail, and bicycling – encourages use of alternative forms of transportation during Earth Week.
“We are very proud that Daemen has been awarded the prize for the best participation by a large organization for saving energy and reducing our carbon footprint though Good Going WNY,” said Center for Sustainable Communities & Civic Engagement Executive Director Cheryl Bird.
“Again this year, the Daemen College Center for Sustainable Communities & Civic Engagement strongly encouraging Daemen staff, students and faculty to save energy by using an alternative form of transportation during Earth Week,” she added. “Members of the Daemen community should be proud of their achievement!”
Daemen had more people taking the Earth Day Pledge than any other institution with 1000+ employees/students.
