AMHERST, N.Y. – In regional and national honors, Daemen College has been named a gold award winner among “Best Places to Work” in Western New York and also selected for the seventh consecutive year as a College of Distinction.
Daemen received the top designation in the “Best Places to Work” extra-large company category (201-500 employees) at Buffalo Business First’s celebration luncheon held March 18 in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Daemen was the only college in the region to be among this year’s selected honorees.
With more than 700 in attendance, the 2014 celebration recognized top winners that ranked highest in each category and honorees from organizations and companies from throughout the area.
The results were based on employee surveys on the quality of the workplace, including team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, and work engagement.
“I cannot say enough about the friendliness and unending support (at Daemen),” wrote one employee in the survey. “You are made to feel like a part of the Daemen College family from the very first day.”
Daemen received the 2014-15 College of Distinction designation as an institution that is nationally recognized for its excellence, focus on teaching undergraduates, innovative learning experiences, opportunities for personal development, and deemed highly valued by graduate schools and employers.
Colleges of Distinction is a Web-based guide for college-bound students seeking schools that are nationally recognized and highly recommended by education professionals. Colleges and universities are nominated for participation by high school college counselors, college administrative members, and the Colleges of Distinction selection team.
“We are immensely proud to receive both these honors which speak to the exceptional sense of community, strong student-centered environment, academic excellence and supportive approach that makes Daemen one of the best colleges to learn and work,” said Daemen President Gary A. Olson.
