Daemen Physician Assistant Studies Associate Professor Joel Patterson has been selected as 2013 Physician Assistant Educator of the Year by the New York State Society of Physician Assistants (NYSSPA).

The NYSSPA’s recognition programs honor the physician assistant (PA) profession’s commitment to excellence. Patterson joins an elite group of outstanding PAs who have distinguished themselves professionally, as well as in their communities.

“Joel Patterson has been recognized as among the best of the physician assistant profession in New York State,” said Daemen President Gary A. Olson.

“Joel previously received this honor in 2006, which makes this truly impressive.”

The New York State Society of Physician Assistants recognizes one educator per year. Daemen Physician Assistant Studies faculty members have won the Educator of the Year award four of the last seven years.

Patterson joins an elite group of outstanding PAs who have distinguished themselves among their peers. This includes Daemen Associate Professor and Physician Assistant Department Chair Gregg Shutts, and PA Associate Professor Cara Innus.

Patterson will be recognized for his achievement during NYSSPA’s Gala Dinner on Saturday, October 5, in association with NYSSPA"s annual fall conference in Tarrytown, NY.
