Maureen Millane Named Director of Career Services at Daemen

           Daemen College has announced the appointment of Maureen Millane, Ph.D., as Director of Career Services. Millane most recently served as Associate Dean at Canisius College, with oversight of the Center for Professional Development, Women's Business Center, and the Canisius Amherst Conference Center. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Education, Leadership, and Policy at the University at Buffalo, writing her dissertation on the topic of student persistence. She will start her position February 28.



           Millane possesses a wealth of higher education and career-related experience, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship, leadership, and partnering with for-profit, non-profit, and governmental entities. As Director of Career Services, she will be responsible for leadership of all department activities and services, including establishment of departmental goals and objectives; assessment, training and supervision of staff; and representation of the department on campus and in the wider community.



           Additionally, the Director of Career Services will coordinate career services as needed for undergraduate and graduate students and faculty; collaborate with faculty to ensure meaningful career development is integrated throughout each student’s educational program; network with employers and community leaders to provide internship and employment opportunities for students and alumni; and provide leadership in developing international internships and other career-related global initiatives.



           In addition to her Ph.D., Millane holds a Certificate in Performance Metrics for Effective Management from the Executive Education Program of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government/School of Business. She also holds an MBA from Canisius College, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.



           Millane has an extensive, and ongoing record of community involvement, including serving as a Docent for the Albright Knox Art Gallery (1992-present); Board of Directors of P2 Collaborative (2009-present); Cornell University President’s Council of Cornell Women (2002-2007), Grants Committee (2006-2007), College Liaison for Gender Equity and Diversity Best Practices (2002-2006); and President of the Buffalo Rotary Foundation (2006-2007); among many other organizations.
