President of Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation to Speak at Daemen College

Thomas P. Dee, President of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, will speak at Daemen College on October 24th as part of the Daemen College/Rosary Hill Alumni Associations Duns Scotus Lecture Series.
Thomas Dee is a native of Buffalo and is responsible for advancing the Corporations mission of revitalizing Western New Yorks waterfront. Prior to his appointment as President, Mr. Dee spent 28 years at Cannon Design, and was involved in some of Western New Yorks most important construction projects, including the Buffalo Federal Courthouse, the Erie County Public Safety Campus, and the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport.
The current phase of waterfront revitalization is focused on the Canal Side project, a $315 million, 23-acre endeavor that will change the face of downtown Buffalo and the inner harbor area. The proposed Canal Side effort involves the redevelopment of Buffalos inner harbor lands for public commercial, residential and cultural usages.
Under Mr. Dees tenure as President, the number of visitors to Canalside has grown to an estimated 800,000, making it one of Buffalos top entertainment destinations. Under his leadership the ECHDC is now seeking architectural services for the Canalside South Aud Block Development and on October 9th the Corporations Board of Directors approved the Explore and More Childrens Museum Master Plan and Pre-Campaign Planning and Feasibility Study Report that will pave the way for a childrens museum at Canalside.
The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation continues to support and promote the creation of infrastructure and public activities at Canalside, the Ohio Street corridor and the Outer Harbor that is attracting critical mass, private investment and enhance the enjoyment of the waterfront for residents and tourists in Western New York. Its vision is to revitalize Western New York’s waterfront and restore economic growth to Buffalo based on the region’s legacy of pride, urban significance and natural beauty.

The Duns Scotus Lecture Series appearance of Mr. Thomas Dee will take place on Thursday, October 24th at 7:00 P.M. in Alumni Lounge of the Charles J. Wick Center on the campus of Daemen College, 4380 Main Street, Amherst, New York 14226. The lecture is free and open to the public.
