Western New York business executives had a unique opportunity to meet Representative Brian Higgins (D) 27th at an event August 16 on the Daemen College campus. The event, co-sponsored by Daemen and the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, provided those attending with the opportunity to discuss issues of their choice personally with the Congressman.

Under 2012 Redistricting, Representative Higgins will move from his current district, covering a large portion of Buffalo, most of eastern and southern suburban Erie County and all of Chautauqua County, to the newly-formed, smaller 26th Congressional District, representing Buffalo, its suburbs, and a majority of Erie County. Representative Higgins will run for re-election this fall in his new district, which now encompasses Amherst and Snyder.

At the Daemen event the executives and other Amherst business leaders were joined by representatives of the Amherst Chamber, together with Daemen College President Dr. Edwin Clausen, Daemen administrators, and faculty.

“We are pleased to have joined with the Amherst Chamber of Commerce to co-host this event, which focused on providing a forum for discussion on a range of issues between Amherst business leaders, Daemen College, and Amherst Chamber representatives, with Representative Higgins,” said Daemen President Dr. Edwin Clausen.

Among the businesses represented at the Daemen/Chamber event were Eric Mower & Associates, UBS Financial Services, Phillips Lytle LLP, Wendel Companies, Univera Healthcare, The Zenger Group, National Fuel, and The Superior Group.
