Daemen College has named Susan Weeks Visual Effects Visiting Professor.

Weeks, who has worked on more than 30 major Hollywood films, joined the Daemen faculty in this summer.

In 2010, after completing projects in Australia and Canada, Weeks took a break from production to teach Visual Effects at Miami International University of Art and Design.

Weeks has been employed as a Stereo Compositor for Sony Pictures Imageworks on the films G Force, Alice in Wonderland, The Amazing Spiderman, and Oz, the Great and Powerful.  Her many feature film credits include Jurassic Park: the Lost World, Men in Black I and II, Galaxy Quest, Star Wars Episodes I and II, Pearl Harbor, Master and Commander: Far Side of the World, three Harry Potter films and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

"Susan Weeks' digital special effects skills can be seen in many of the most well-known and admired feature films of the last 15 years," said Daemen President Gary A. Olson.

"Students in the Daemen Visual Effects Certificate Program will now have the opportunity to acquire their special effects skills from Susan."

Weeks earned her B.A. in Literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. She began her career in feature films as a graduate student in the Motion Picture/Television program at UCLA where she won the Dorothy Arzner and Lynn Weston awards for feminist filmmaking.

After graduating with her M.F.A. in 1991 she began working on major motion pictures as a Visual Effects Artist at George Lucas' Industrial Light+Magic.  In 2003, Weeks moved to London, England, where she worked as a Compositor at the leading UK companies Framestore CFC, The Moving Picture Company, Double Negative, and the Jim Henson Company.
